Convert MOBI to EPUB with Calibre

Add the .mobi file with Add books, select it, click Convert books, set Output format to EPUB and click OK. Right-click the book → Save to disk to get the EPUB file.

Make sure the book isn't DRM-protected
Kindle Store purchases are protected and Calibre won't convert them. Personal documents, free books and DRM-free purchases convert fine.

Read it anywhere
Open the EPUB in Apple Books, Google Play Books or a Kobo, or check it first in Calibre's E-book viewer: chapters should appear in the table of contents and pictures should show.

Can I convert Kindle books (KFX/AZW3) to EPUB?
Purchased Kindle books use DRM (Digital Rights Management) that prevents conversion without authorization. DRM-free Kindle books (personal documents sent to Kindle, or books from publishers that opted out) convert freely. Circumventing DRM is illegal in most jurisdictions regardless of whether you purchased the book.
How do I convert MOBI to EPUB using Calibre?
Calibre is the best free desktop tool: open Calibre → Add books → select your MOBI → click Convert books → choose EPUB as output format → OK. Calibre handles chapter structure, metadata, and cover images automatically.
The converted EPUB has scrambled chapters — how do I fix it?
MOBI chapter structure sometimes doesn't map cleanly to EPUB. In Calibre's convert dialog, check Structure detection → 'Detect chapters at' and Table of contents → 'Level 1 TOC'; both take XPath expressions such as //h:h1 or //h:h2. If the MOBI has its own table of contents, Calibre uses that by default.
