When to convert to or from PDF

PDF is the universal document format — it looks identical on every device, in every application, on every operating system. When you need a document to look exactly the same for the recipient as it does for you, PDF is the answer. Word files reflow on different screen sizes. PowerPoint slides shift with different fonts. PDFs don't.

Converting TO PDF: DOCX to PDF and PPTX to PDF are the most common — for sharing presentations and documents that shouldn't be edited. PNG to PDF and JPG to PDF let you combine images into a portable document. SVG to PDF converts vector graphics into a printable format.

Converting FROM PDF: PDF to PNG extracts each page as a high-resolution image — useful for pulling slides, charts, or covers from documents. PDF to DOCX converts the PDF into editable text (best results with text-based PDFs). PDF to EPUB converts readable documents into e-book format for Kindle or Kobo.

Common questions

Is the PDF conversion lossless?
PDF to PNG and PDF to JPG render each page at 150 DPI (300 DPI for Pro), producing sharp, full-quality images. Converting documents to PDF preserves layout and fonts exactly — it's the same result you'd get from a print-to-PDF dialog.
Can I convert a multi-page PDF?
Yes. When you convert PDF to PNG or JPG, each page produces a separate image file, numbered in order. A 10-page PDF gives you 10 PNGs. All pages are processed in your browser — no upload limit applies to page count.
Will the PDF retain fonts and formatting?
When converting TO PDF (e.g. DOCX to PDF), formatting and fonts are preserved as rendered. When converting FROM PDF to an editable format (e.g. PDF to DOCX), the conversion is best-effort — complex layouts with tables and images may need manual cleanup.
Are my documents safe to convert?
Completely. All conversions run inside your browser tab using pdf-lib and PDF.js — your files never leave your device. Contracts, medical forms, confidential reports — none of it touches a server.
