Why convert TXT to PDF?

A .txt file is the simplest document there is, but it doesn't travel well. Phones open it in odd apps, line breaks change between systems, and printing it often gives a messy page.

A PDF looks the same on every device and printer. It's also what forms, portals and teachers usually ask for.

This converter sets your text on A4 pages in a monospace font, so notes, logs, code and plain-text tables keep their spacing and line up the way they did in your editor.

Common reasons to convert TXT to PDF:

  • ›Submitting notes, a draft or an assignment where only PDF is accepted
  • ›Printing a log file, script or list with clean margins
  • ›Sharing a text file with someone who'll open it on a phone
  • ›Keeping a fixed copy of notes that can't be changed by accident

Quality & file size: TXT to PDF

The PDF uses A4 pages and a 10-point monospace font (Liberation Mono). Long lines wrap at word boundaries, tabs line up on 8-column stops, and blank lines stay where they were.

The text in the PDF is real text, not a picture: you can select, copy and search it. It's read as UTF-8, with a fallback for older Windows text files.

Latin, Greek and Cyrillic text converts — in our tests, Lithuanian, Russian and Greek came through correctly. Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic and Hebrew aren't supported yet; you get a message naming the characters instead of a broken PDF.

A text file has no fonts, colours or headings, so the PDF doesn't either. For formatted documents, convert from Word with DOCX to PDF instead.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert text to PDF online for free?
Drop the .txt file on this page and download the PDF. The free tier converts 2 files a day, up to 10 MB each, with no sign-up.
Can I convert text to PDF without signing up?
Yes. There's no account and no email step. The conversion runs in your browser, so the file is never uploaded either.
What font and page size does the PDF use?
A4 pages with Liberation Mono at 10 points. A monospace font keeps columns, code and plain-text tables lined up the way they were.
Will long lines be cut off?
No. Long lines wrap at a word boundary onto the next line, so nothing runs off the page.
Can I select and search the text in the PDF?
Yes. The PDF contains real text, so you can select, copy and search it.
Does it work with Chinese, Japanese or Arabic text?
Not yet. Latin, Greek and Cyrillic scripts convert. For other scripts you'll see a message listing the characters the PDF font can't show, instead of a PDF with missing text.
